Brooklyn Fashion Week is providing  venues for deigners at Fashion Night Out , September 10 during  New York Fashion Week as well as Brooklyn Fashion Week SS2011  and BKStylist Direct  to consumers immediate Fall 2010! Designers ready to sell only!

It's the market and trade week and designers in town  for the sourcing  shows are invited to come network  meet and discuss common issues!  This evening it's production, and a serious discussion around solutions for Small Inde designers!

Final instructions will be sent to those attending!

Graphic artist Louis Narcisse has considerable experience creating Clothing that sells! Creating  a line with a positive cultural message was not difficult enough adding and taking on an ethical conscious was an added challenge we threw his way! Not only does he offer a green line of Earthy and body friendly organic jersey knit cotton in a substantial weight! He is also donating half his proceed to  our ss2010 Haiti  project that aims to help survivors in Haiti!

Cotton is the fabric of choice for Bweela Steptoe's Collection; the line recycles and reinvents  jeans creating distinct wearable art. Bweela extends and often complements this look with her signature"Holy TEES"; the result a deconstructed look with a couture feel. With zero waste as a company policy, scraps of left over fabric become skirts, bustiers and other  accessories. On a smaller scale the company recycles waste paper from candy wrappers, making bags, belts & patch pockets out of them.

"If we just stop for a moment and take a good look at these beautifully colored wrappers we would see the potential in them", Says Ms Steptoe, " By saving them and creating a collage out of the I turn something that most people look at as trash into art while also lessening the waste around us. I rarely throw away any of my scraps of fabric because they can always be used to make "something".

Rodney Alexander Designs

The clothing consist of natural colors and earth tones combined with natural materials like cotton and burlap which is used to create frames, patches and frayed edges.  These garments are adorned with natural materials such as wooded beads, shells and are also hand painted to give the garment a more indigenous look. his ultimate goal is to create avenues where the clothing can be obtained in Trinidad & Tobago, regionally and internationall via sustainable methods!
