Bweela Steptoe-
Cotton is the
fabric of choice for Bweela Steptoe's Collection; the line recycles and
reinvents jeans creating distinct wearable art. Bweela extends and
often complements this look with her signature"Holy TEES"; the result a
deconstructed look with a couture feel. With zero waste as a company
policy, scraps of left over fabric become skirts, bustiers and other
accessories. On a smaller scale the company recycles waste paper from
candy wrappers, making bags, belts & patch pockets out of them.
"If
we just stop for a moment and take a good look at these beautifully
colored wrappers we would see the potential in them", Says Ms Steptoe, "
By saving them and creating a collage out of the I turn something that
most people look at as trash into art while also lessening the waste
around us. I rarely throw away any of my scraps of fabric because they
can always be used to make "something".
Hand created pieces can be a bit pricey the
challenge was creating pieces that were affordable while remaining true
to the brand's core style and philosophy.. this Thursday Bweela will do
just that.. as she present samples of her new "retail line"! Produced
